When this whole open senate seat bidness got underway, I thought that Wil Cardon would, at best, make it so Jeff Flake would have to blow some money in the primary. You know, run the sort of “look at me, I’m a statesman” ads that would show him to be the grown up and even [...]
Earlier this year, there were some rumblings from the Republican side that they weren’t entirely happy with Gabriela Saucedo Mercer being their nominee. There were rumors of other candidates getting enticed back in the race, including 2010 nominee Ruth McClung. Why? The thought was that Mercer might be prone to the more bat guano side [...]
It seems to happen every Arizona election: a Democrat wins office somewhere and then comes the allegation that illegal aliens voted. That’s got to be it, because my guy can’t have lost fair and square. In 2010, the allegation came from people around Jesse Kelly and Ruth McClung. There were people being bussed in illegally [...]
The man who brought a whole new dimension to the phrase “perennial candidate,” Joe Sweeney, passed away this weekend. I’m not going to pretend for even a minute like he was some political colossus that strode across Southern Arizona or even that he had something valid to contribute to our civic dialogue: the man was [...]

The Tucson Sentinel is reporting that Ruth McClung has finally conceded the CD 8 race to Raúl Grijalva. This comes weeks after it was obvious that the math had turned against her (which she’d understand, she’s a Rocket Scientist, in case you hadn’t heard) and long after she’d get anything resembling a decent press for [...]
[Editor's Note - After several days of deliberation and discussion, we have determined that suspending Tedski over the weekend was an appropriate punishment for his violation of our policy. We look are happy to have him back and thank you for your support during this difficult time.] After the jump, little things I missed last [...]

Well, I have to give credit to both Secretary of State Ken Bennett and Yuma County Recorder Robyn Stallworth Pouquette for coming out strongly against this year’s voter fraud allegations. The allegations were, at their base, an attack on the voting rights of our Hispanic citizens. I commend them both for doing what they can [...]
After the jump is a post on Doug Martin’s blog. Martin is with Good News Communications, the folks that bring you KVOI and KGMS. The post was written by Republican National Committeeman Bruce Ash, who, of all things, takes a shot at Gabrielle Giffords for not being Jewish enough: After all , Congresswoman Giffords , [...]

Ruth McClung has backed out of a debate with Raúl Grijalva that was scheduled for Monday. You may remember that she made a big show of coming to Grijalva’s office (complete with a television camera) to challenge Grijalva to this particular debate, and her campaign largely agreed to the conditions set by Grijalva’s campaign. The [...]
