Huh huh, it’s 420…

Scratch what I said before. The Tucson Sentinel has reported via tweet that Tom Horne’s lead has fallen to 420 votes. Maricopa County elected officials, who have a lot of sway in these matters given the nature of Republican primaries, have indicated that a lead of 200 votes or less would necessitate a recount.

Andrew Thomas…Conceited and Conceded?

Jason Rose’s relentless Twitter feed reports that Andrew Thomas will make a “statement” this afternoon.
UPDATE: Thomas’s ray of hope is that there are several thousand uncounted ballots in Maricopa County. Despite this, Tom Horne’s statewide lead seems to be holding steady and that’s why some think this may be Thomas throwing in the towel. Then [...]

David Lujan Concedes

The Democratic ticket appears to be set as David Lujan has conceded the Attorney General’s race to Felecia Rotellini. This from Lujan’s Twitter feed about an hour ago:
It was a good fight. Now I am going to work as hard as I can to elect Felecia Rotellini as our next Attorney General! Congrats Felecia!
Up until [...]

I Didn’t Say It…He Did!

One of my more masochistic activities is keeping up with Republican operative Jason Rose’s Twitter feed. For the last few months, his followers have been treated to a case for Vernon Parker’s immediate sainthood, and a relentless bashing of now Attorney General nominee Tom Horne.
Rose was supporting Horne’s opponent, candidate for disbarment Andrew Thomas (heck [...]

Oyez, Oyez…

Editor’s Note – I haven’t decided yet if I will totally return to this blogging enterprise, but last night left me with thoughts that are begging, nay, demanding, to be posted. I’ll post a few throughout the day, including ones of only marginal utility such as this one.
John Dougherty showed up at the Copper Room [...]

Does Tom Horne Know What He Is Talking About?

Last week, Tom Horne used some of his time testifying on his perennial cause of getting rid of ethnic studies programs to making a gratuitous jab at Dolores Huerta. He refered to Huerta as “César Chávez’s girlfriend.” Whatever you think of Huerta, Chávez or the farm worker movement, it is not only a lie, but [...]

And We Already Have a List…

Currently in the Congressional District 3 race, there is only one filed candidate, Democratic businessman John Hulburd. With John Shadegg’s announcement late this morning, we already have speculation on who else may run.
Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon has been talking himself up as a candidate over the last few hours, but there has already been some [...]

What Was Weak Last Week

Our legislature concluded their not-especially-special session on Saturday. They made $8 million in cuts in the Attorney General’s office but no cuts in either the Secretary of State’s office or the Treasurer’s office.
I know, I know. It just so happens that the Attorney General’s office is the only state constitutional office run by a Democrat. [...]

He’s Coming for Your Children!

I understand that Tom Horne was in town yesterday visiting one of our local schools, ostensibly to congratulate students and parents for the improvements they’ve made.
But we know what’s really going on here, don’t we?
Yes, he was there to indoctrinate them. Tom Horne has a Trotskyite and Cubist agenda that he’s looking to force feed [...]

To Spite Their Faces…

So, on Saturday I was talking to Terry Goddard and Bruce Babbitt. I bring this up because one benefit of this blog is it gives me the chance to name drop once in a while. Okay, more than once in a while. I mean, aren’t you impressed by all the important people I run with?
Anyhow, [...]
