Because of my egalitarian mindset, I would not exclude a Tucsonan just because he is from Tucson. Hughes, Hunt's mentor who succeeded Murphy as Governor. Hughes was advocating progressive causes in his Arizona Star and organizing reform efforts since the early 1880s. I am sure that Berman mentions Hughes in his book, since he has given him his due before. I am hoping that The Egalitarian's failure to mention him is not a reflection of some reluctance to credit someone from Tucson. The Egalitarian failed to mention Louis C.
