Solidarity for Trayvon

Some of you may have missed the march on Sunday during the Fourth Avenue Street Fair. Richard Elías and activist Esther Sharif came up with the idea for an event, with help from Sunnyside School Boad President Magdalena Barajas who found supporters through Facebook. They managed to get forty hoodie wearing folks brandishing skittles to peacefully show support for Trayvon Martin and his family.

David Abie Morales got video of the march, and Chris Summitt took photos.

CORRECTION: The original post mis-identified the organizers of the event.

The Travyon case is a perfect example of racism and attacking someone without knowing the facts. It is also a perfect example of how these radicals get away with stuff that others could not…

Taking a public bounty on someone? Nice! Where is all this civility that the left is always talking about?

Although the full course of events may never become clear (largely because one of the two key participants is incapable of presenting his side any longer), two things remain indisputable:

    1. Zimmerman chose to leave his vehicle and attempt to confront Martin, despite being specifically requested by police that he not do so.

    2. Zimmerman shot and killed Martin, who was unarmed.

Now, what, exactly, occurred between points one and two may still include information which has yet to be revealed. However, it’s unquestionably true the initiating event which eventually led to Martin being killed was Zimmerman making the poor decision to exit his vehicle, despite being explicitly informed he should not.

However, nice deflection on your part Sirocco, I can’t see how the following helps:

1.making a public bounty on someone, who has not yet been found guilty.

    2. trying to tweet the guys address and telling people “feel free to reach out and touch him.” Basically trying to incite violence. In doing so using the incorrect address of a couple in their 70′s who have nothing to do with the case!

    3. changing the race of the shooter from Hispanic to “White Hispanic”. I have never seen “White Hispanic” used before. It was used to incite a race riot, since it is not politically correct to incite a race riot between peoples of color.

    4. The deceased was purposefully made out to look like a little kid who stereotypically looks like a member of the school’s chess team, versus the “grill” displaying, tattooed, truant that he his. Why try to distort the facts?

    5.The Black Panthers?

    6. Al Sharpton?

It is a good thing that people of reason are speaking out like Allen West and Dr. Alveda King.

    WC,

Sorry – I wasn’t attempting to address your assertion about the bounty. Obviously, any response such as that is unquestionably inappropriate.

No, I was referring to the first sentence of your original post, and I would like to see you make a case for either of the two points I raised. I suppose one might question the “attempt to confront Martin” portion of statement 1, but even there I think you are on shaky ground.

Without the actual facts of the case I don’t need to speculate on either. Let the courts settle it. This is all smoke and mirrors though. This happened over a month ago, but is just now in the news.

I got news for you, we as a country, are going broke, FAST! That is the issue we should be talking about, THE ECONOMY!

I’m not asking you to speculate, I am asking you to make a case on currently known facts, which you said you could do.

The idea we are going broke fast is false. In terms of absolute national debt, the figure seems quite high. In terms of debt as a percentage of GDP, a far more useful and relevant figure, we’ve been in worse shape, although I’ll concede we need to get the trend lines slowing.

First, without the actual facts, all I can do is speculate – PERIOD!

    1. Supposedly the “White Hispanic” that shot Trayvon was already outside his car when he called 911. He was supposedly behind a housing complex and was walking back to his SUV when Trayvon confronted him for following him. In the call he supposedly says something to the effect that he doesn’t know his street location because he was in a parking lot or alley… I really don’t know because I am not privy to all the facts, only media hysteria.

    2. I could argue that an angry young man with adrenaline pumping through his veins can be a weapon in himself. Add a metal can or some other object commonly found on the street with some personal experience and a person can be pretty well armed. When I was 18 I was serving in Iraq and everyone on my squad could be considered a deadly weapon. I am intimately aware of several situations where people were taken down with nothing but what was available in the immediate area. One incident with a clipboard will forever be engrained in my memory.

My point is that without the facts, without sitting on a jury, none of us are capable of accurately judging what happened. We don’t have lynch mobs for a reason. We shouldn’t be advocating them on any level, in person, or on the internet.

LOL… your understanding of the National Debt and budget is scary. We are currently at a 100% GDP to Debt Ratio. This does not include the $60+ million in unfunded obligations…

    Who,

These facts you cite are nice, but are irrelevant to the central issue of the case, which is the failure to act on the part of the police. That is what is making folks so angry. It tells us a lot about your attitudes that you are trying to change the subject.

I cannot control some people’s actions any more than you can control the actions of all on the other side. I haven’t seen anyone here encouraging that.

Wait what was that? Are you saying that his physical appearance has something to do with it? If so I wear hoodies, my marine friends have tattoos and half the kids in school today have been truant at one time or another. They better watch their back eh?

    5.The Black Panthers?

Why are you asking me? I don’t know any.

    6. Al Sharpton?

Why are you asking me? I don’t know him.

Now back to the central issue over which a young man who had his life cut short by another – remember him Trayvon?

Apparently not, you’ve shown his life no consideration at all.
