And We Already Have a List…

Jon HulburdCurrently in the Congressional District 3 race, there is only one filed candidate, Democratic businessman John Hulburd. With John Shadegg’s announcement late this morning, we already have speculation on who else may run.

Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon has been talking himself up as a candidate over the last few hours, but there has already been some snickering about how the mercurial Gordon would do in a Democratic primary, even against the relatively unknown Hulburd.

Sam CrumpOn the Republican side, Representative Sam Crump has been talking himself up. Crump recently opted out of a race for Attorney General. Among the other names that have been circulated (and not necessarilly by the possible candidates themselves) are Senators Pamela Gorman and Jim Waring and long time capital fixture Wes Gullett. Gullett would be the only moderate of the group.

Interestingly, Jason Rose’s relentless Twitter feed speculates that Dean Martin would leave the race for Governor and Tom Horne would drop his bid for Attorney General to make a run for the seat. This has nothing to do with Rose trying to stir the pot for his own candidates that are running against Horne and Martin, right?

Gordon running as a Republican? His endorsement of McCain, Andrew Thomas, Jim Weiers, and Sal Diccicio will serve him well in that primary!

  3. Horne won’t run, he has the most to gain from DOJ investigation on Arpaio. My money is on Crump…

Gorman and Crump running would be great, good-bye and good luck to both. The Legislature will miss you.

Crump up the jam is a flip-flopping carpetbagger (I’m running for AG…no, no, I’m running for re-election in the house…Shadegg’s retiring? I’m running for Congress. That is, unless Dean Martin runs for CD3, too). Pamela Gorman wreaks of “Going Rogue.” Jim Waring is a decent enough guy, but one of the most cynical lawmakers I’ve ever met. And Wes Gullett…well, might be the best choice of the R’s. I’m not that impressed with this group so far…

Do any of these people have a track record of ANYTHING?
