Franks and Beans
I received a press release from Jesse Kelly’s campaign announcing that he is bringing Trent Franks to town to campaign for him.
Franks is fairly low profile and his few media splashes have been for some rather out-there positions and statements (will he call Gabrielle Giffords an “enemy of humanity”?). Kelly’s campaign seems to think that Franks is a big deal in Southern Arizona, which begs the question: Kelly does know that there are voters in CD 8 that don’t attend tea party rallies, right?

I realize they might not be your cup of tea politically but bringing in Duncan Hunter, Sheriff Joe, and Russell Pearce is pretty good for a Republican with a primary, especially a first time candidate like Kelly. And now he has a current member of Congress from Arizona coming to town for his campaign.
Who is he suppose to get, the tooth fairy?

The Tooth Fairy would probably be better at governing.

Very enlightened political opinion from lefty guys who are wired so differently you’d never understand or appreciate what the endorsements would mean to many conservative voters and not only Tea Party folks.
I hope your political learning curve continues to be S- L- O- W going until the 2010 elections. In case you have not stopped to notice the political winds have shifted course and believe it or not they ain’t blowing at your backs anymore.
Deal with it………We’ll be capitalizing on it.

Ted, thanks for the reference to There’s Something About Mary in the title to this post. We can all look forward to Kelly (or whoever the GOP runs in 2010) getting caught in the teeth of the mighty zipper that will be the Giffords re-election campaign!

Gabrielle Giffords and Jesse Kelly both make me yawn. Gifford is uninspiring so far and Kelly fails to inspire me either.

Rex-
I don’t make references to Something About Mary unless it is an offhand reference to Tommy Larkins.

Funny. One would think that if the ascendancy that Mr. Ash is referring to is really occuring the way he says it is, then there would be all sorts of well-known Tucsonans lining up to support him. Instead, he has a bunch of out-of-state movement conservatives, the dangerously narcissistic Sheriff of another county and the most undistinguished member of Arizona’s Congressional delegation. Meanwhile, prominent Republicans in southern Arizona and elsewhere are looking for someone else to carry the Republican standard in the district.
Now ask yourself if Tedski is the one mis-reading the political winds here.
Say Bruce, what do you think of the fine job the legislature is doing?

Tom, if it is a local endorsement you are looking for, Kelly’s web site lists Sen. Al Melvin. The Captain may not be your cup of tea but he does know how to win elections in NW Tucson.
There were lots of NW precincts that voted for Melvin but not Bee. At least Kelly may get Republicans to vote for him, something that did not seem to happen in 2008. Hey, wait, isn’t CD 8 a nominally Republican district? See you in 2010.
Merry Christmas!

Trent Franks was one of the Republicans who voted (after much arm-twisting) for the unfunded Medicare Prescription Drug Entitlement. He is not the tooth fairy, he is Santa Claus.

Fran, let me get this straight: are you saying that Tim Bee and Randy Graf both lost because they were insufficiently Republican for the district?

Al Melvin to Congress? OMG. I believe him to be a very poor representative and advocate for Tucson, He is WAY TOO LIBERAL. He is a tree hugger and a Muslim apologist. He has no patriotism

Fran:
Funny you should mention Melvin. When I first heard about Kelly the first thing I did was pull up his website.
Cute baby – big political plus!
Ack – Melvin endorsement?? Not something you should brag about.
I can’t predict much about the next election, but the Republicans that I know in LD26 have families…they aren’t interested in re-electing someone who has been working so hard to dismantle the public schools in our area.
Kelly tanked any chance of getting my vote after embracing Melvin as an ideological bedfellow.
