A Far Cry from Kirk Douglas
Readers will remember that Ben Beuhler-García ran an ad that mirrored an ad that Bill Richardson ran during his presidential run. It is helpful to remember that neither Beuhler-García nor Richardson won.
Harry Mitchell’s supporters got a bit of mileage out of poking fun at this ad by Eric Wnuck, the carpetbagger that hopes to get the Republican nomination against Mitchell. As it turns out, not only does it bear a more than uncomfortable resemblance to an ad that Illinois Democrat Melissa Bean ran in her first race for congress, but one of the consultants responsible for that ad now works for…wait for it…
Harry Mitchell.
A group of Mitchell supporters are having way too much fun with this one, and have posted this parody of Wnuck’s ad:
CORRECTION: My original post said that this effort was being done by the Mitchell campaign. I received a call from them and they wanted to make it clear that although some supporters are involved, the press release and parody video are being done without the Mitchell campaign’s sanction or encouragement.
