It’s Bald Solidarity

Sam Wercinski has landed the endorsement of former Democratic Party Chairman Jim Pederson. Pederson will also be serving on Wercinski’s finance committee.
People that are obsessed with playing the Arizona equivalent of “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” would want me to point out that Pederson is close to David Waid, who served as Pederson’s executive director when Pederson chaired the party. Waid has been advising, in a so far unofficial capacity, the campaign of Wercinski’s opponent Chris Deschene.

Wow, this is big endorsement. Pederson is the de facto leader of the Arizona Democratic establishment and the impact this endorsement will have in terms of fundraising is huge.

Didn’t Jim Pederson also support Sal DiCiccio?

Yes, he did, Crabby. He also once ran as a “John McCain Democrat”.

What we absolutely have to do, no matter which candidate gets the nomination, is make the election for Secretary of State of paramount importance next year. Of the past six Arizona Governors, three left office before their terms were completed and the other three are the secretaries of state who replaced them.
If you don’t think this race is important, then just take a few minutes to contemplate Jan Brewer’s tenure so far.

Eli_Blake is correct about the importance of this race and Pederson’s endorsement of Sam is very important in a Democratic Primary. The Democratic PCs and activists in Maricopa County know Sam while Chris Deschene is way under the radar.

Does that make Sam Wercinski a “Jim Pederson Democrat?” Maybe that”ll help with the crossover appeal.
Eli & MVDem, I agree.

This endorsement gives Wercinski endorsements in all 15 counties by some fairly influential folks. It seems like Chris would be highly qualified to explore other offices.

The endorsement of Jim Pederson and his crucial role in Wercdinski’s campaign will make all the difference! Sam is truly qualified for this important position in a state government that needs some good honest people running it! We would not have a democratic party in Arizona if we didn’t have Jim Pederson…Thanks Jim for doing the right thing as always!

Chris Deschene is a great Dem. & Legislator, but at this time his campaign is only exploratory. He may not have the appeal to Maricopa County voters. Sam4Az already has a strong campaign organization, and he has been actively campaigning for months. Adding Pederson’s endorsement to the campaign is huge for fund raising.

Who can question the commitment Sam Wercinski has made to the State of Arizona? Serving as Commissioner of the Real Estate Dept. he was outstanding, as most realtors will attest. He built the Democrats in AZ while serving as Chair of Maricopa County. His very being is one of giving. He lives his commitment daily. We citizens of Arizona and Jim Pederson cannot find a finer person to hold office. How fortunate for us such people agree to run for public office!

Well, that last post was certainly a little creepy.

Just for the record, Jim did not officially “support” Sal. He wrote him a check but it was actually before I got in the race, which was a little late. Sal put every one on his web site as a supporter who gave him a check but that was not really an endorsement. When I got in, Jim was supportive and encouraging.
