Eli SennaI heard some sad news about someone that many of us that were active in the Young Democrats may have known: Eli Senna. Senna was a major force in the Young Democrats of New Mexico that I first met during my time as regional director in the YDA. I first heard the news on his good friend Sisto Abeyta’s Facebook page:

Over ten years I have been proud to call Eli my friend, my supporter and most of all my brother! I met Eli in 1996 while attending the University of New Mexico. He was charismatic, full of laughter, and one of the brightest political minds I had ever met. We worked together for the next ten years helping to shape the Young Democrats of New Mexico and the state we both love so much.

Eli was the best of all of us. Some people might say that Eli didn’t have a vindictive bone in his entire body, for someone so entrenched in the political process Eli was always the first to say “ Screw it Brother lets go have a beer with them and talk it out”. That was Eli always willing to see the differences in people and always willing to work through those differences to achieve consensus as well as do what was always right for those we loved.

I will miss my brother Eli more than anyone will ever know. He always challenged me to do better and always challenged me to grow as a person. I loved him for that and so many other things! Eli my brother I know that you are in heaven right now and I am proud that I got to share so many great moments with you here on earth.
