Now you know why these are called “Special Sessions.” Like a very special episode of, say, Family Ties, this one is “to be continued.” To be continued today, as a matter of fact.
No word yet if the Governor has a plan to leave the state before things commence at ten today.
Marszałek Senatu Bob Burns reportedly may have even more trouble corraling his little doggies today. Jim Waring will probably not be in. Also, Carolyn Allen, who made it in last week at great effort due to an ongoing illness, may not have the desire to show up again if it doesn’t look like her leadership has its act together.
There is a rumor that Albert Hale and Jorge García may have cut a deal with Burns and company if Burns includes some provisions for schools on the reservations. If true, I understand the desire of both of them to cut such a deal. If a bad budget is to be passed, why not get something for communities that they represent? However, Kirk Adams has made it clear that this language will not pass the house, so what is really being gained from this?
There is considerable pressure being put on Hale and García over this, so in the end, I expect them to stay on board.

I realize that there may be medical reasons behind Carolyn Allen wishing to minimize her physical activity due to illness but not having a desire to show up would be another issue altogether.
