Come On, Really?

Lou Dobbs claimed that anti-immigration activists took potshots at his house, a claim that was not taken seriously by local police, especially since hunters frequent the rural area where Dobbs lives.

Now Joe Arpaio has jumped on the bandwagon, claiming that he is so startled by this incident that he is reviewing his own security. Of course, there was no incident, but any reason to put out a press release, eh, Sheriff?

(By the way, remember the marches in 2006 when Republican legislators were demanding that the National Guard be called out for what turned out to be peaceful protests? Seems part of the same pattern.)

This sort of behavior from Maricopa County’s Sheriff is par for the course (and people wonder why I’m glad not to live there). What I’m shocked at is why, when this is obviously a play for a bit of free publicity, did this press release actually make the news? Is someone, and I don’t just mean the New Times, going to approach this guy’s press releases with a hint of skepticism at some point?

  • Don’t you think it’s odd that Dobbs, even if he is correct that someone targeted his home, knows who they were and what their motivation is even without seeing them?

Who told him that? Orly Taitz?
