I’m Tough So I’m Going to Cry

Could someone please explain to me how Joe Arpaio makes himself out to be a tough guy for having his deputies chase down immigrant women and their children, but he becomes a whiny, spolied three year-old when the feds tell him he needs to dial it back?

For those who still don’t understand the full extent of the Sheriff Joe’s masochism, you need to check out this article in the New Times, which gives you a short run down of his abuses. Tip of the iceberg, really.

  • Ted,
If the charges can be documented don’t you think the Fed’s would prosecute for”assault under color of authority”.

If the charges were true and could be proven beyond a reasonable doubt then everyone involved in criminal behavior should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

If those charges were fully substantiated why doesn’t the Obama appointed U.S. Attorney prosecute under the civil rights statute? Has “Joe” been so powerful all these years that the Fed’s can’t touch him? There is always two sides to every story.

  • The Obama administration is young, Walt. And not prosecuting someone doesn’t mean they haven’t done anything wrong.

  • Arpaio is a demogogue who plays to his base by making life as miserable as he can for those who are the weakest and most defenseless in society, and who are hated by some members of his base.

He’s also not the first American politician to do that:

and this guy was wrong, too.

  • Wow.

I just read all the way through the article, and it seems that Mr. Lemons had the same thought I did in trying to search back through history for Joe’s political progenitor.

So there you have it. George Corley Arpaio.

  • ”assault under authority of color”

  • Hey, it don’ matter none if he gits the right people or not, as long as he makes ‘em all eat green lunch meat and wear pink fruit o’ the looms!
