But, You Are Supposed to Give Us a Forum to Act Like Meatheads

Local Teabaggers have been eager to disrupt Raúl Grijalva’s next health care town hall meeting. But there is one problem: there isn’t one planned.

It’s not that Grijalva shies away from public appearances, he just prefers to show up at other community events and keep in touch with constituents that way instead of the traditional “town hall” meeting that has become the fashion among congressmen over the last couple of decades.

It is worth noting that Grijalva had two health care events last month, one was a rally at the Tucson Community Center and, yes, a town hall meeting at St. Mary’s hospital.

But, that hasn’t been enough for the flood of ticked off and sometimes profane callers to Grijalva’s office this week who are angry that Grijalva isn’t holding a town hall meeting on a schedule to their liking. Apparently, it is Grijalva’s job to put on a town hall, so that these guys can show up, jeer, yell and otherwise make it impossible for anyone who shows up hoping to talk to their congressman to do so. Yep, they are angry that he isn’t putting on an event so that they can come and shut it down.

Next: he’ll put on a town hall, but they’ll complain that it’s in the wrong part of town.

About a week ago I ‘attended’ congresswoman Kirkpatrick’s town hall.

It was a teleconference, I called in and listened. People who had questions were told which button to hit and a call screener took their names and let them on one at a time (including several who had questions or expressed opposition to the Obama plan.) Everyone who wanted to listen in was able to, and congresswoman Kirkpatrick then gave each question a detailed, thoughtful response.

I bet all the right wing loonies will achieve is to convince more members of Congress to conduct town halls by phone.

He should tell only the wingnuts he’s having a town hall in a bad part of town and then not show up. Would serve ‘em right.

If you ask me, Raul’s whole district is “the bad part of town.”

A bunch of us were discussing this at McMahons and we agreed that if we are going to show up to a Grijalva town hall, we will need to come prepared. Like, I will have to show up early to park my hummer. You would not believe how unaccomodating these south siders are about accomodating our parking needs. Also, we are going to call the police in advance to prepare for dsiruptions by the unions and the TUSD ethnic studies department. Also, we will bring our birth certificates.

I already have my sign made up. It has Raul’s face photoshopped on a picture of Poncho Villa saying “We don’t need no steenkin’ free market!” That’s because this Obamavitch health care bill is just like being held up on the border by banditos.

You libs might feel safe now, but we are just waiting for the signal…

Sonoran Alliance is making similar “hay” about Giffords…with a video from a “disappointed” (disjointed?) tea partier.

You should have seen the contrived astroturf maneuver the GOP tried to pull tonight in Flagstaff. They bussed in about 40 folks from god knows where but thankfully about 180 actual residents showed up, which in turn pretty much forced them to behave. They tried to heckle on occasion but the inherent politeness and peaceful nature of the people up here won the day. They appeared as fools as they got up and read their absurd dictated GOP text.

Sinema, with help from Chabin and Deschene did an outstanding job in presenting a rational and straight forward argument for the President’s Health Care Plan.

BOTH Giffords and Grijalva support a “Strong Public Option.”

Giffords supports it because of off loading bussiness healthcare costs to the Taxpayer.

Grijalva supports it because he sees Mexican Nationals as a future voting block to re-elections as far as the eye can see by people who do not have America’s values and interests at heart, but as a “wise Latina Woman once said- she knows better than those racist white American Anglo Saxon Males!”

Both of these representatives of Socialism are scheduled for a Town Hall Meeting together- next week- can’t waite to see Gabby’s Ice Cream Crowd mix with the Budweiser crowd of Grijalva!

Talk about protesters who dress to well to be average citizens!

180, she IS wiser than a Racist.. period. As for the Giffords crowd and Grijalva crowd mixing, not a problem… you see, WE don’t have an issue being around or working with people of various economic backgrounds, various racial and ethnic backgrounds. I think it is the TEABAGGERS that will have a problem hanging around with the ‘Grijalva’ crowd, especially if it is on the southside of town!

And what are those and tell me why they don’t have them?

I really want to hear the thinking, for once, behind why people like you believe what you believe.

So tell me, why don’t those Mexicans have American values and interests at heart?
