And It Just Gets Worse…(Yeah, Bringing That Back)
One bill lost in the prop wash of the budget debacle is SB1157, which would continue the Department of Environmental Quality. The bill is still sitting in the rules committee, and has to go through caucus, committee of the whole and 3rd read by midnight tonight or -poof- no more ADEQ.
I’ll leave it up to you if this is a matter of design or incompetence. I wouldn’t put either one past these guys.

It is a generally acknowledged truth that the primary cause of the economic downturn was the ADEQ.

Republitard, surely you jest! That’s like saying the 40 hour work week was the cause of an economic downturn!

You are both wrong. Clearly it’s all the money we wasted on K-12 and university education that has caused our problems. Oh, and not having guns in bars.

Realize if ADEQ goes bye-bye, this subjects Arizona to the more stringent oversight of Obama’s EPA. Sure that’s what you want, kooks?

Also, SB 1310 has not been moving. It would continue the Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities, which terminates July 1.

Remember the pledge that the legislative leaders made not to move anything that was not budget-related until the budget was done?
So here we are, end of the session, the budget is not done, so a lot of stuff didn’t get moved (though they still found a way to fit in Ward Connerly, abortion restrictions and an attack on the Obama health care plan.)

This is a really nice way to treat 700+ state employees, who don’t know whether they’ll lose their jobs in tomorrow, and the citizens of Arizona. Who needs clean air and clean water anyway. Sadly, these fools won’t be ousted from the Legislature until the 2012 election, after the 2011 re-districting. This state is run by bufoons. I hope Region IX EPA comes in here and drops the hammer on these state “leaders.”
