Come on Daniel, Really?
I hesitate to talk smack about Daniel Scarpinato since he’s always been a decent guy to me, but I gotta take issue with his column yesterday.
(See CORRECTION below)
Check out this bit from Political Notebook yesterday, where he wrote about Janet Napolitano’s visit to Tucson:
And after keeping everybody cooling their heels for a couple of hours, Her Majesty arrived 15 minutes late, keeping not just the media types but several waiting officials requesting water bottles to deal with the blazing sun.
Yes, the man deserves to be frustrated at the security procedures that come with a cabinet visit, especially when combined with the perennial lateness and snooty hangers on that come with all high ranking politicians. But, “Her Majesty”? Throwing that sort of snippiness just makes it sound like a person frustrated that they didn’t get the face time they wanted.
Dude, you’re better than that.
CORRECTION: I got an e-mail (not from Scarpinato) that points out that that particular part of Political Notebook may have been written by fellow Star scribe Brady McCombs, since McCombs did a piece on the event and Scarpinato was in Phoenix. If this turns out to be the case, simply move any criticism of Scarpinato over to McCombs.

“Dude, you’re better than that.”
No, he is not.
