Slogan on the site of Shaun McClusky, one of two Republicans filed to run in Ward V:
I am not a politician, I am a problem solver.
Dude, you are a candidate for political office now. Sorry, but you are what we call a politician.
NB: Grammar mavens will no doubt also note that the sentence is a comma splice. A semi-colon should solve this problem. There is no word on the dog’s party affiliation.

Suppose the word “but” were placed after the comma; would it still be a sentence splice? If not, why not?

One would think that would be obvious but apparently no one wants to be honest.

Someone should explain this concept to Ward 6 candidate Steve Kozachik. Here’s he is in an interview with the Citizen:
“I’m not your cookie cutter, party regular type of politician,”
“I’m not a politician.”

Sounds a bit like ‘a uniter, not a divider.’
Lotsa luck, pallie. Democrats have been through that ringer before.
