An Endorsement?
Terry Goddard testified at the Senate Judiciary committee yesterday. Jon Kyl praised Goddard’s work on border crime, and John McCain sent chairman Dick Durbin a statement praising Goddard as well.
Although the remarks of Kyl were complimentary and gracious, even better were the remarks of Arlen Specter, given after a short dispute with Charles Grassley over who got to ask questions first:
Specter: Governor Goddard, how serious is the problem for your citizens in a neighboring state?
Goddard: Mr. Chairman, Senator Specter, I appreciate the promotion, but I’m the Attorney General, but thanks sir.
Specter: You’re just one step away.
Goddard: Aspiring, perhaps.
