Gotta Get A Dog With a Bandana

The Marana Town Council race is turning out to be more interesting than a few of you would give it credit for. Races in our smaller communities often are quite colorful, and you junkies would do well to follow them. I remember a recall in Patagonia a dozen years ago where one candidate pulled a gun on another.

Up in Marana, we have candidate Kelle Maslyn. She got quoted in Newsweek. How many candidates for Phoenix or Tucson City Council have ever been quoted in Newsweek? Of course, the quote was from her dayjob as spokesperson for Comcast when Bajaarizonenses’ Superbowl viewing was interrupted by porn.

Even more amazing is Patti Comerford. She’s been able to run a full campaign complete with signs and mailings while only managing to raise less money than a sixteen year old makes at MacDonalds in a short week.

Check out her finance report. The report that covers through December 31 shows only a single contribution from Cornerford herself of $100. A later report, covering expenses until February 18th, shows only two fees paid totaling $55.

Amazingly, despite the small amount of money she’s paid for this campaign, Marana is dotted with her signs and mailers bearing the disclaimer “Paid for by Patti Cornerford for Marana Town Council” have been appearing in mailboxes since early February. Imagine that!

Wow, even Jesus needed a few loaves and fishes to pull off a miracle like that.

  • Hey Ted:
You can get signs made really cheap if you know where to find the labor. Your Friend: Kathi Lee Gifford

  • And those of us working for MUSD are just praying for a school budget that doesn’t lose 10 teachers from MVHS, and a possible elementary school closing.

Unfortunately, we’re just grateful to not have TUSD’s problems, which are rumoured to be even more severe than that.
