Sonoran Alliance: Pwned!
Always fun when another blog steps in it. I get to make fun of them, then I have to go back through my posts to see if I’ve done the same thing.
Our friends at the Sonoran Alliance wrote in their inimitable manner about the hiring of Gerald Richard by the Attorney General’s office. They complained that this was merely an appointment of a “political hack” in the wake of layoffs in the office.
What they apparently did not notice was that Richard was actually hired last year, before the current budget troubles. They complained that they didn’t know his salary ($96,000 according to publicly available records) and implied that Richard won’t be subject to the furlough policy (he will). Silliest is their contention that Richard is some political hack, unqualified to work at the job he was hired for. Richard is coordinating the COPLINK program, which helps local law enforcement agencies coordinate their activities. You’d think that Richard’s 20 years of law enforcement experience would be an advantage in that position, but apparently, that makes you a “political hack.”
The most embarasing part of Sonoran Alliance’s missteps here is that they got called out by the Yellow Sheet. Man, I hope I never mess up so bad that the Yellow Sheet gets to make fun of me.

SA and their legions of loyal droids are offended by things like “facts,” “science” and “reality”. If Bill O’Reilly knew how to use the internet, he would produce the kind of crap like you read on SA. Most of the posts on that site are laughably bad.
Worse than the blog itself, though, is the readership. I can’t believe that people actually buy into that tripe.
It is nothing more than a place where the lockstep zombies of AZ’s conservative right can go to vomit the party line all over eachother, and love every second of it.

Having a 20 year cop with experience in several jurisdictions is a horrible idea!!!!! Tell Russell Pearce he is fired.

If only Sonoran Alliance would be a fraction as assiduous about going after Saint Sheriff Joe’s wasteful ways as they are about this.

Chewie,
It’s still a mess of incoherent garbage.
I doubt that this is the best your opponents can do (if they wanted to they could disect every SA post, and it wouldn’t be hard), and I hope you don’t think that your writing requires it. A seventh grader could have made the same observations, this post was actually that bad.
Nothing about the experience bit? Do you still think that Richard lacks the requisite experience despite 20 years of law enforcement?

Only comic book bad guys say “nice try” when they think an attempt to foil them has failed.

Oops, that last one was Tucson Vice.
Also, only comic book bad guys say “nice try” when they think an attempt to foil them has failed.
Example:
“Nice try, spiderman!”

Actually, I agree with the rebuttal. I know a couple ass’t AG’s who were recently laid off and they both had over 3 years with the AG’s office. Hiring a guy like that in December when lay off’s loomed is the type of out of touch crap that we used to beat up the GOP for.

You need to look at this thing logically. A $96,000 salary actually cost the state about $135,000 when you figure in benefits unless he is on consultant status. Is he? Is this a wise use of resources, letting a “co-coordinator” replace a desperately needed prosecutor?
