There has been a flury of speculation about who will get Steve Gallardo’s seat in the legislature. This is the methadone that political junkies need to substitute for the heroin they didn’t get when it turned out that Raúl Grijalva was staying put.
The new name that has emerged is teacher and Tolleson Vice-Mayor Anna Marie Tovar. Her name has caught on with some folks in the Democratic house caucus who would rather not see Lydia Hernandez take the seat because of her connections with the often divisive Ben Miranda.

It would be nice to see another teacher in the leg. Maybe she would help protect education from taking the brunt of the upcoming cuts
