Conservatives Just Not Letting It Go, Part 1

Earlier this week, I pointed out that Sonoran Alliance erroneously used Terry Goddard’s public service announcements about the digital transition as an example of taxpayer money being used to promote elected officials. Of course, as pointed out here, the ads were paid for by Cox Cable, not taxpayers.

That post was part of a back and forth with another Republican blogger. They put a response up as an “update” to the old post. An update in which, by the way, they humbly call Sonoran Alliance “a good read just about every day of the year.” Even though it wasn’t necessary for their argument, and despite the chance to correct their mistake, they repeated the allegation about Goddard. This, by the way, is in a post called “Policing the Blogosphere” where they decry the lack of standards on blogs.

  • I am appalled that a blog called “Sonoran Alliance” includes no Sonorans and never reports on Sonora. Come on guys, who will hold Enrique Bours accountable for the attempted re-patriation of the Seris?

  • I’ve quit reading the Sonoran Alliance precisely because I’ve run across a couple of items that I knew to be false, and they apparently do as a matter of fact play fast and loose with the truth.

I have no problem reading a righty blog that does their homework and generally gets it right, even if they make my blood boil, but when they appear to be truth-challenged (and then get corrected and still keep on going) then what can you do?

I guess they must have taken lessons from Don Goldwater.

  • It’s a little bit like some conservatives on national shows already blaming Obama for unemployment (for example, Sean Hannity on Faux News starting a comment last night with ‘Now that Obama’s in there,’) Of course Obama won’t be there for ten more days, but hey telling the truth has never been the strong suit for the right.
