Barack Obama will be having a Super Bowl party at the White House tomorrow where the invitees are ten members of congress. Among them, our own Raúl Grijalva and Trent Franks.

An elephantine correspondent alerted me to this photo of Randy Pullen and Joe Arpaio from the New Times coverage of this weekend’s Republican meeting.
The only comment that my correspondent wanted to make is that over Arpaio’s shoulder is Joe Sweeney.
Well, the RNC has elected Michael Steele their new chairman. Chip Saltzman (he of “Barack the Magic Negro” fame) didn’t even make a race of it after his support evaporated, but Katon Dawson made a good run at it, even leading on the fourth ballot.

The Illinois state senate voted unanimously to remove Rod Blagojevich from office. The governor is now a guy named Pat Quinn, who I am assuming has less interesting hair.
The state senate also voted unanimously to bar Blagojevich ever to hold public office in Illinois again. I remember that a similar provision in Arizona’s impeachment law [...]
