So, How Smart Was That?

This video has been making the rounds. I think anyone could have told you that this was going to happen. First off, politicians rarely, if ever, get good receptions at sporting events. Second, Philadelphia sports fans…geez. I mean, these guys throw cups, nickles and batteries at their own players. Didn’t they boo Santa Claus once? How good of an idea was this?

Back when I went to MLS Cup in November, the section behind us was a Philadelphia based group called “The Sons of Ben” (yes, the acronym was intentional). They formed when they heard there might be an MLS team in Philadelphia soon. They were ultra obnoxious and tried to start fights with us Revolution fans below. Let me repeat: they don’t even have a team yet and they were already starting fights and being all-purpose pinheads.

I digress: how good of an idea was this now?

NB: Reader BrittF was only a few rows from the SOBs…I expect a comment from her.

  • Apparently, Palin announced at a fundraiser before the game that she was going to trot her kids out there with her so she wouldn’t be booed. Little Piper was supposed to be a human boo shield.

Personally, the more I learn about the Palins the more I believe child protective services needs to take those kids away from them. Do you see the Obamas dragging their girls all over the place like that? Children are not political props, Sarah.

  • Yeah the fuckers were dumb enough to actually spit perfectly good beer on people. Plus drop a few NBombs…Which is really smart since they were in the “Chocolate City”.

  • @brittf I was in the front row of the SoB section at the MLS Cup. I saw no one spit beer nor did I hear the N Word. Who were they saying it too?

I’ve never heard the term “Chocolate City” What does that have to do with a soccer game? Or does it have some deeper meaning for you?

Does your bitterness have to do with the fact that you got smoked in the game and we were out-singing you?

  • Well its gotta be all those casserole baking, tabouli eating, wine sipping liberals…at that….hockey….game.

  • Did anyone else notice Tedski’s off-hand reference to Aqua Teen Hunger Force?

  • God, I’m loving this! It’s an exquisite train wreck! It’s the Tower of Pisa falling! It’s DiCaprio slipping from Titanic and drowning! Twenty-five years of wing-nuts imploding before my eyes….Thank you, Baby Jesus!

    Gotta go — I need a cigarette.

  • Every sporting event that I’ve attended involving a Philadelphia teams has had multiple fights in the stands. The funniest was a Coyotes/Flyers game where the hockey players actually stopped on the ice at one point to watch the fans fight. One of my best friends is from Philadelphia and even he admits that Philly fans are the worst. Us folks from the other end of the state are much more civilized.
