Placido Domingo
So, I’ve already had a complaint that I haven’t “reported” on anything. Well, the answer is simple: the convention hasn’t started yet.
I took the Metro to downtown, the 16th Street Mall to be exact, so I could pick up my credentials at a different hotel. I don’t pick up credentials with the rest of the delegation. This means I am either extra special, or just a pariah.
I ended up taking a long walk from the Metro stop to the hotel. There are supposed to be free “mall shuttles,” but I never saw one. I found out later that there was a two hour strike by the shuttle drivers. On the walk, I ended up encountering Steve Doocy from Fox. I said, “hey, you guys are in our hotel.” That’s when I found out Doocy is not one of the Fox News folks staying at our hotel. In fact, he’s not even staying in Denver.
There were cops and helicopters all over. Many of them were headed to the Pepsi Center. One group of protesters or another was headed for the convention hall.
Anyway, made it to the Sheraton to collect my credential. There I encountered this man, who was promoting something called Words We Can Believe In, a book that you can download from ObamaWisdomBook.com. He’s looking for 50,000 people to download it so get to it.
Got back up stairs and a woman asked me for an autograph. She saw the press credential and assumed things. I got some video of her after she had gotten an autograph from an Irish reporter.
The trip back was interesting. The Metro was full of Colorado Rockies fans who had cut out of the game in the 11th inning because it was getting to hot (Pikers!). The train was so packed that a couple of them almost ended up in a fight over who exactly pushed who. Soon, Rockies fans started to pile off. It actually was a bit hot and the vents for the air conditioning started leaking water. Lots and lots of water. I made it back before the car flooded.
There are many Hillary Clinton delegates with small green buttons that say “300.” These are being worn by the three hundred delegates who signed a petition to make sure that Clinton’s name is put into nomination. I have no problem with this, heck, the roll call vote is half the fun of being here anyway. There is supposed to be a meeting of Clinton delegates on Wednesday afternoon, and Clinton herself is expected to be there.

Ted,
Be sure to take a walk by the State Capital and the grounds near all the museums (if you haven’t of course)…simply amazing. As is the view from the Capital building.
Also, check out the little barrio area and the Museo De Las Americas. Cool little place and lots of other cutting edge galleries in the little area on Santa Fe.
Its a little walk from Downtown…but neat.

Supposedly, Clinton is going to formally release her delegates on Wednesday when she meets with them.
Does this mean she’s given up on getting the nomination? Tedski, ask her if you see her.

Hi Ted, wow, you’re really putting that little camera to work! The videos look great. You have a lovely voice that’s perfect for documentary interviewing. I hadn’t noticed, even though I talk to you every day. If you ever make a full length documentary movie, I’d be honored to be your assistant director or assistant editor or continuity person or just the assistant who gets your coffee. I know you don’t drink coffee, but it’s the thought that counts.
I love the title Placido Domingo. I doubt you’ll have a placido lunes (o martes o miercoles o jueves). Hey, how do you put accent marks on this thing?

P.S. you missed an o in “too” in the paragraph about the Rockies fans: “it was getting to hot.”

No, Charles Manson of the Tate-LaBianca murders.

Tom, Liza didn’t get the joke….. Though I bet that Marily Manson would list the White Album as his favorite Beatle album….

What can I say? Pop culture icons elude me.
But I admit to owning a “Rubber Soul” CD.
