Still Annoyed by New Hampshire

I am constantly annoyed by the attention that New Hampshire receives in our presidential politics. I am preturbed by the totally out of whack amount of attention it gets and the arrogant stance of its political leadership that they are somehow uniquely qualified to pick presidents for the rest of the country. I was particularly annoyed this year watching John McCain making multiple visits to run down mill towns with a few thousand people while I’m struggling to remember the last public appearance he made in my city which contains 600,000 of his own constituents.

So, today’s “Unity” event bugs me. Yes, I know it’s all symbolic because the town has this apropriate name and Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama tied there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But dang, these guys are still kissing New Hampshire’s ass and the primary has been over for months? Puhleeze.

I’ll write about something actually relevant later.

  • Small misspelling: should be “receives” (i before e, except after c) in first sentence. I like how you used the word perturbed. True.

Actually, when WAS John McCain in Tucson last at a public meeting? Was he there at TCC when President Bush came to speak about social security reform?

  • Have you ever been to New Hampshire? You need to re-read “Our Town”!

Well, I’d say “live and let live,” but I prefer “live free or die.”

  • Wow…you really don’t understand this process at all eh? New Hampshire is not simply important merely for the sake of tradition. Mayhap you should look into things a lil more before making such asinine statements…by the way…your state has no impact whatsoever…and for most purposes is completely irrelevant……yet we all still find it important….and don’t make such absurd lil statements as ye.

Why doesn’t Ted post anything anymore? Doesn’t he know that he is losing readership to Daniel’s News and Views (Noticias y Opiniones de Daniel)?

  • “[F]or the sake of tradition”?! Uh, Dred Scott was decided “for the sake of tradition”, and that didn’t work out too well.

On the other hand, apparently the number of New Hampshire blacks who voted this year doubled versus 2004: the wife of the guy who voted in 2004 joined him in voting this year.

I could not possibly agree more. I worked in the Granite state for the presidential primary this cycle, and the level or arrogance and sense of entitlement I encountered on a daily basis were nauseating. Ugh, I could write a doctoral dissertation on the problems with NH, its primary, and its role in the process.
