Drone?

I’m confused about exactly what message Tim Bee hopes to pull out of the end of this session. First off, he managed to shepherd his budget through, which means, I suppose, that he can claim some sort of bi-partisan cred. The folks over at Blog for Arizona have an interesting take on it: since Bee [...]

Hey, I Didn’t Say It

Talking Points Memo’s Josh Marshall on the possiblity of Mitt Romney being John McCain’s running mate:
The only thing standing in Mitt’s way, apparently, is his being such a tool.

Wesley Clark on John McCain

Here’s Wes Clark from Face the Nation yesterday. Interestingly, conservatives are jumping on Clark’s ass for questioning John McCain’s service. Of course, Clark never does. Funny how the conservative punditocracy gets all atwitter about questioning someone’s military service now that John Kerry isn’t running anymore.

Still Annoyed by New Hampshire

I am constantly annoyed by the attention that New Hampshire receives in our presidential politics. I am preturbed by the totally out of whack amount of attention it gets and the arrogant stance of its political leadership that they are somehow uniquely qualified to pick presidents for the rest of the country. I was particularly [...]

Kelty, McClure On the Ballot

The challenge to the petitions of Kara Kelty and Marian McClure was dropped today. Kelty’s people had pointed out that among the people who were supposedly invalid signers included state legislators and judges.
The guys didn’t bother to show up, and the case seemed shaky in the first place. It makes me wonder if the idea [...]

…And The Hungry Can Always Dumpster Dive

Here’s one cribbed from the Yellow Sheet. John Shadegg was speaking at a cocktail reception put on by the Center for Medicine in the Public Interest. The group that claims to be searching for new ideas in health policy, but from what I’ve gleaned from the website, they are yet another big money group that doesn’t want [...]

That Toddlin’ Town

Budget bills will be coming up for a vote today (finally!). But, will there be Democratic members who decide not to show up?
The problem comes up because the Democratic Leadership Council will be having a “National Conversation” in Chicago, and several Democratic legislators have planned to attend.
So, the question becomes, would they rather hobnob with [...]

Maybe They Were Buried in Chicago?

Here’s a strange one for you: some folks were going through John Kromko’s petitions for his run for State Representative and they found something unusual. Among the citizens that signed, one was by the name of Mary Fry, the other was named Daniel Gust.
So what, you say?
The trouble is that both of them died in 2007.
Kromko [...]

Losing Hope and Trust

I spoke to Steve Leal about his asking for Mike Hein’s resignation, and he named a number of incidents and concerns over the past two years that have made him increasingly uncomfortable with Hein. This is a summary his view of the situation:

After Mayor and Council had voted on a plan to keep the Greyhound Bus [...]

Leal’s Letter

I recieved a copy of Steve Leal’s letter and I’ve posted it here. I was surprised by its brevity.
