Wow, I’m Being Trashed On Daily Kos
Somebody with the name Crushie is less than happy with my being picked as the delegation blogger. You can read his or her rants here and here.
Apparently, Crushie thinks that I shouldn’t have been picked over Blog for Arizona, because I am some sort of DLC tool. Funny thing that, given my criticism of folks like Ken Cheuvront, Phil Gordon and Linda Lopez. Crushie also doesn’t like the fact, apparently, that I focus on Southern Arizona. Heaven forbid!
Crushie gets a couple of things flat wrong. One is the implication that somehow David Waid conspired to pick me as the State Blogger. This is laughable for any number of reasons. Let me let you in on a little secret: word got back to me during Waid’s chairmanship that he didn’t even like my blog.
Next is the assertion that my campaign for legislature sucked. Well, yeah it did. I had a great deal of trouble breaking through considering my potential support went to Steve Farley, who hadn’t wound down his city council campaign from months before. Crushie, however, overstates the case by saying that I didn’t even make the ballot. If I didn’t make the ballot, how did I get those 2700 votes?
By the way, if being a failed legislative candidate is a disqualification, Crushie’s fave would be out of the running too.
The main focus of Crushie’s criticism of me seems to be that I am not “progressive.” Crushie claims I have been dismissive of the progressive movement in the party. I haven’t been dismissive, but I’ve certainly been critical when I don’t like their tactics. I’ve also been critical of the party’s establishment. My detractors argue that I am an “establishment tool” for not buying into 100% of their line. Crushie echoes past calls that I “grow a backbone,” “backbone” defined as writing exactly what they want me to.
The folks over at BFA don’t seem to share Crushie’s frustration. They wrote a nice post about my getting picked and even posted the video. It must be because I am a retrograde dixiecrat, or something.

This blog is the only reason to log onto the internet. Honestly some people need to get a clue.

Do you have any nasty exes out there, buddy? Ha!

I didn’t know that people actually read Blog for Arizona. This wasn’t even a contest.

This is an outrage. The only reason RRR was chosen was for Howard Dean to show that he knew the historical significance of the title in the video. Let’s not forget that you are blogging for Pima County, while Blog for Arizona blogs for all Arizona. You Pima Country people have been big bad bullies to Maricopa County and it must stop. The state doesn’t revolve around you.

And I heard the state party refers to you as McDreamski. Hardly unbiased.

I don’t support you even without having visiting Blog for Arizona. You come off as sarcastic, sophomoric, and too willing to label all republicans as “bad” and dems as “good”. A little too tarzan and jane for this progressive independent AZ voter. I keep hoping you don’t embarrass us with any of your ’snarky’ antics at the event.

Indy-when did Ted ever say he was going to be fair to any side? Or anything more than what he is which is a partisan hack? He freely admits it. And if he is sarcastic and sophmoric, never seemed to stop you from showing up.
Italiana-Tom is the one with the less than peaceful ex. Ted has never even had a girlfriend publically. He is above all that. :p Yes, I am joking.

Funny, but BfA/Michael Bryan doesn’t seem to be miffed about tedski’s selection as preferred blogger, so what is Chrushie’s issue???
And RRR is far from a Baja-Centric blog, with regular posts about the CD-1 race and other such non-Pima races.
As for the ‘Hater’, it is Maricopa folks that seem to bully Arizona.

Congrats to Tedski. No complaints here.
When I want the inside dope on Arizona politics, I come to R cubed.

I read the “crushie” comments because I remember crushie from the 2006 CD8 election. Crushie, as I recall, was a major Weiss supporter.
Crushie thinks that the Blog for Arizona is better than RR@R because there are several good writers who contribute to the effort and they are able to cover a broad range of topics (education, environment, election integrity) in addition to “typical politics.” Crushie also credits blog owner Michael Bryan for holding all Democrats accountable, including those he supports.
Crushie states that on RR@R, “Posts tend to be short, more snarky commentary than actual political coverage and while the blog isn’t bad, it is by no means representative of the issues that concern most Arizona citizens. At best it is a small slice of coverage.”
I think that the main focus of Crushie’s criticism of RR@R is actually about the quality of journalism (snark vs. serious), but I also see where Crushie bears somewhat of a grudge from 2006,”In 2006 blog focus became largely about our DLC candidate, which is his prerogative. However, many of us who supported more progressive candidates didn’t like the tactics used in the disinformation campaign employed by the blog when it became more of a branch of the Congresswoman’s campaign rather than an independent blog of a supporter.”
Tedski, I think that everyone understands that your blog is not intended to be like the Blog for Arizona. That is the nice thing about the blogosphere, there is something for everyone. You have your own writing style, perspective, subjects of interest, and you seem to be capable of articulating what you see and hear.
So, don’t be concerned about what you read about yourself. When Barack Obama gives his acceptance speech for the Democratic nomination, this will be the kind moment in history that we have not had in this nation for the last 40+ years. Not only will you be humbled, we will all be humbled, so much so that total silence will spread across the nation as we simultaneously realize what just happened. It is going to be one hell of a moment and one hell of a story, and I know that you will put the snark aside and do it justice.
So, just be happy and awed by this, and enjoy your front row seat. I will be on my couch in front of the TV with about eight boxes of Kleenex. And I’m looking forward to it.

Bring tha’ snark, son.

Make that RR&R, same mistake, three times.

lol. what a joke. Michael isn’t mad so who gives a flying **** and honestly, we dismiss southern Arizona every chance we get up here in the great state of maricopa. I’m glad that RRR got picked so there can be some equalization. And Tedski is a great blogger and preactically the whole political class checks it for breaking news. I think I went to Blog for Arizona ONCE and it’s formatting drew me away instantly. Like Michael Bryan, but ugh, formatting dude.

Whatever happened to Lofty Donkey?
May 23rd, 2008 at 5:44 pm
It died.

Hey, it ain’t easy to keep up with all the shit, blogging takes tremendous dedication and RR&R is a favorite read with one hell of a lot of insight into the party. 2700 votes though, wtf? I got 13,000 and I still lost…top that down in Western New Mexico ;P

Hey, I was happy to congratulate you on getting picked, even though I was an unsuccessful applicant. And congratulations again, I look forward to reading your posts from the convention.
As far as ‘crushie’ is concerned, it’s pretty clear to me that he/she is not qualified, since he/she isn’t willing to even back up the allegation with his/her name.
I’d also mention in passing that six years ago I had nothing to do with partisan politics, and through the Democratic party I’ve been elected as a precinct committeeman, a county first vice chair (three times), a member of the board of directors for a club and a member of the state committee. The process for doing things within the Democratic party is always put in writing and is far more transparent and open to change from within than the ossified Republican party, that still hasn’t change much from the days of Nixon. For that matter, don’t forget that Howard Dean himself ran for DNC chair as a reformer (and he’s done a great job, there is nothing you can call the ‘fifty state strategy’ other than a smashing success. For a change a state like Arizona matters, instead of just being walled off as ‘not part of the election strategy.’
Congratulations again, Ted, and I think the best blog won.
