It’s Not About Mexicans, Really
A correspondent sent me some notes taken at yesterday’s press conference that featured Joe Arpaio and Russell Pearce.

A reporter asked Arpaio about Mary Rose Wilcox saying that his sweeps are unlawful
Sheriff said who? Oh, you mean the person who runs the Mexican restaurant and has people there who call me a Nazi? She can say whatever she wants, he said.
Um, she runs a Mexican Restaurant, and this means what?
By the way, Joe, I used to work at a restaurant run by Libyans.
The Republic has a rundown of the press conference. Other “luminaries” that were there included John Kavanagh, Andy Biggs, Trish Groe, Karen Johnson, Linda Gray, Ron Gould, Jack Harper, Don Goldwater, Anna Gaines and Chris Simcox. Simcox, by the way, used his time to condemn John McCain and Janet Napolitano as “panderers.” Remember: working to get Latino voters on your side is pandering, but cowtowing to the worst instincts of your voter base is merely good patriotism.

I also resent the assumption that only Latino voters disagree with Arpaio’s antics.

“I used to work at a restaurant run by Libyans.”
Actually, that explains a lot.
