Wow, That Made It Easy

The Yellow Sheet reported that Kris Mayes has decided against running for congress. Does this mean that her time working for Janet Napolitano gets re-inserted in her resume?

This leaves the Republicans’ “top” candidate mining lobbyist and knuckle-dragger Sidney Hay, who has already promised to be as good as Rick Renzi. For those who don’t have a score card, Renzi had a midling record for constituency service, even before being indicted and being exiled from all of his committee assignments. Heck, I’m as good of a congressman as Renzi is right now.

The list of top-tier Republicans dropping from this race is not nearly as long or amusing as the one of Republicans bowing out of the 2006 governor’s race. It does make me wonder, though, do Republican candidates and potential candidates think that there will be coattails from John McCain?

  • I heard Ken Bennett was deciding today. Has that happened yet?

  • Kris Mayes worked for the Governor? I’m shocked! Who knew? I wonder if anyone else knows? Why, it would be a really cheesy political move to try to hide something like that!

  • Bennett said he’ll make an announcement “today (fri) or Monday.

My guess…and I’m prepared to be wrong as usual - is that’s in. The money boys see Hay as the next Randy Graf. They’re the ones who are pushing him back into the race.

It’s hard to say no when someone’s slipping promises of big bucks under your nose.

  • Well, if Bennett gets in then the ‘money boys’ will have to see how well he explains how his son got a sweetheart deal from prosecutors in Yavapai county, getting no jail time for doing exactly the same thing to several of our best and brightest middle school students that Justin Volpe got thirty years for doing to Abner Louima.

  • John McCain has been screaming that Mayes and Hay be removed by the local Republicans from the race. John is nearly hysterical in loud invective that there should be “no Mayes or Hay running for that seat.”
