And While We Are At It…
I’d like to inform the folks who keep pushing for this “Super Delegate Caucus” that we actually already have one. It will be held in Denver this August and the votes will be binding. Maybe y’all have heard of it?
I was going to avoid writing about this thing, but the idea seems to keep getting resurrected, mostly by the same journalists who only a couple of months ago were so excited that this thing could go to the convention. Aside from Phil Bredesen, I haven’t detected any enthusiasm about this from the actual super delegates that would have to participate.
My question is, how would the results of such a thing be enforced? I can think of at least two super delegates, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, who wouldn’t have the slightest interest in voting for the other one if things don’t go their way.
What if they have this “caucus” and the results are as muddled as those of the other contests? Well, I have a proposal. If there isn’t a definitive winner, maybe we can go to a penalty kicks or an NASL-style shootout. The winning goalkeeper could be veep. If that doesn’t work, Clinton and Obama can compete in the ancient Aztec game of Ollamaliztli. Sounds good. And, what the heck, let’s decide the general election by an egg and spoon race. It makes about as much sense as this caucus proposal.

did you see Fox News Sunday today (3-30-08)?
Sen. Lindsay Graham who travels regularly to Iraq with Sen. McCain was on the program. The moderator asked Sen. Graham to comment on McCain’s idea about being in Iraq for 100 years. Sen. Graham begins, “Gen, I mean Senator McCain…..”
Somehow I don’t think that the ‘Gen- he meant to say General McCain was a slip.
McCain never got to follow his grandfather and father into the ranks of a 4 star general - he would love to be commander in chief. Apparently some of his friends already are calling him “General”
Scary!

Check your facts, Mr. Clueless, and stop revealing off your ignorance of the military while insulting those who served with honor.
