Yes, But Did He Head Butt Obama?

Okay, we’ve all heard the news that Bill Richardson has endorsed Barack Obama. I suppose that stories of Obama losing massive support among the superdelegates are a bit overplayed.

A bit of Kremlinology: I think if Richardson shaves his newly minted beard close to convention time, it mean’s he’s the veep.

  • He may be the VP, but he should keep the beard.

  • Dude I have been head butted by the Gov.

I’d like to see Richardson as Secretary of State. That department greatly needs his knowledge and skill - it’s gotta get cleaned up!!!

  • I agree with Francine. He should be Secretary of State.

No way is he the veep. Obama will have to unify the party, and I don’t see how Richardson does that. Obama may not choose Hillary (or Hillary may not accept the job) but I don’t see how passing over Hillary and then choosing a man who also ran and then finished a distant fourth, and who the Clinton camp clearly considers to have betrayed them (see James Carville’s comments for reference) would unify anything.

And I say this as a Richardson supporter who is now supporting Obama (like you).

Given Richardson’s success in the diplomatic field I believe that Obama would find that there are none better qualified to be Secretary of State.

  • I agree with you that Richardson would be a kick-ass VP… however I think he should keep the beard. The beard is his new trademark. If Bill Richardson had that beard before I think he would have been the nominee by now without question. Beards are making a comeback and I think Obama/Richardson (with the beard) would be an unstoppable ticket of epic proportions. McCain and his greatest hero, Barry Goldwater, will have something in common after this election. By November 2008 McCain will have reached out to just as many Americans as Goldwater did in 1964.

  • Not that it would change my vote from McCain but if Richardson is the VP candidate, I’d like to see him campaign wearing the bola tie. That’s what needs to come back, not the beard.

  • So if he is the Veep, would the question then be ” Red State or Green State?’
