Department of Corrections: Better Late Than Never
I encountered Georgia Brousseau this morning and she wanted to correct a mistake I made nearly two years ago(!). I don’t see her much; what can I say?
Anyhow, in a post about a lawsuit to take Russ Jones off of the ballot, I mentioned a case called Brousseau v Fitzgerald that was cited by one of the litigants. I mischaracterized the case as involving a race between Brousseau and Jack Fitzgerald, the Color TV King, for an old East Side State Senate seat. Well, I got that wrong.
As it turns out, that particular litigation occured when Fitzgerald tried to file in the primary against Ron Asta, who that year was a Democratic candidate for mayor. Brousseau was one of a group of activists challenging Fitzgerald’s petitions. Brousseau pointed out to me that she actually supported Fitzgerald’s later run for State Senate, as she was the chairwoman of the Democratic district club that year.
