Oh, That’s So 2005
So, a correspondent wrote to me to tell me that Mary Peters is preparing a run for Governor.
Wait, didn’t I write that three years ago?
Yeah, you may remember that Peters was one in a series of candidates that were going to send Janet Napolitano back to a private law practice. Like Peters, none of these giant killers ended up running. Since then, Peters has become Seceretary of Transportation. Since she assumes that she will not be working in the Obama administration, she figures she’ll have some free time when 2010 comes along.
This correspondent reports that her husband Terry has moved back to Arizona and Peters makes regular (the correspondent alleges taxpayer funded) visits to the state. Also, Republican mahout Chuck Couglin, who talked up a Peters candidacy last time, has hired Peters’s Public Information Officer and is rumored to already be planning the campaign.

Oh man, the 2010 guv primary is going to be fun to watch on the GOP side. Who’s likely to run other than Peters? Andrew Thomas? Jon Kyl? John Shadegg?
Oh, this will be fun!

Don’t forget Dean “the check won’t be in the mail” Martin.
He and his merry little rat pack of former Senate staffers (all the thugs that Bee fired went to work in the Treasurer’s Office) kicked off their campaign yesterday.
It certainly didn’t escape Napolitano’s notice. She slapped him so hard his pompadour is now on backwards.

Oh, joy.
Now we too can have leadership in Phoenix just like the model of competence we’ve seen from the Bush administration over the past several years.
Get ready for $10.00 per gallon gas.
