First Bill…

Arizona BillAfter seven weeks of debate and horse trading, the legislature has transmitted its first bill to the governor. The bill was Kyrsten Sinema’s regarding divestment in Sudan.

Some of you may be asking, what about that budget? There are two bills that have been passed but are being held and not yet transmitted to the governor. One cuts various agency budgets but goes barely a third of the way to erasing the state’s budget deficit. It will surely be vetoed since it was only passed with Republican votes and the Governor also demanded that the legislature pass a comprehensive package.

The other bill would mandate a hiring freeze, which has already happened by executive fiat. So, after all of the rigamarole about the budget, two useless bills. Nice work!
