Paging Captain Renault

So, former Rep. Steve May is in a huff. That’s right, he’s shocked to find out that a negative piece got sent out on behalf of the Project for Arizona’s Future, a group that he was on the board of. So, he has quit the board and made the requisite handwringing statement to the Yellow […]

But At Least He Looked Good in Those Shoes

Barack Obama went bowling, yes bowling, with Senator Bob Casey. Ah, the things we will do when we are running behind in the Pennsylvania primary.
It looks like he got several gutter balls. As a Polish-American with family in the area, I have to say I am deeply, deeply disappointed, even offended.

And While We Are At It…

I’d like to inform the folks who keep pushing for this “Super Delegate Caucus” that we actually already have one. It will be held in Denver this August and the votes will be binding. Maybe y’all have heard of it?
I was going to avoid writing about this thing, but the idea seems to keep getting […]

Salon Will Be Hearing From R-Cubed’s Lawyers

Hey, check out the title on this article in Salon. These guys should stay away from my turf.

Housekeeping

For some reason, one particular post in from June of 2006 became a favorite target of spambots advertising pornography. The “comments” that were posted would not have been a problem since the post was so old, except that they all showed up in the “recent comments” section on the side bar. Some of these were […]

Good Lord!

The other day, I wrote a post where I said that despite John McCain’s personal popularity, local Republicans still seem to be in trouble. At least one poster questioned my sanity when I said that Bob Lord seems to have a chance against John Shadegg, despite the overwhelming Republican registration in the district. He even accused […]

Nothing To Do With Cy Curnin or Jaime West-Oram

Last week, Washington Post scribe Chris Cillizza asked readers of his blog, The Fix, to choose the best local political blogs in each state. Well, the votes came in. And the winner is this here fine piece of blogitude.
And I didn’t even run one of those “please vote for me” posts.
My favorite comment was this […]

Catching Up

I don’t read the New Times much, so I miss out on a lot of the latest shenanigans of Joe Arpaio. Frankly, if it is a butt stupid naked play for publicity, I already know he is fully capable of it.
But a fella sent me some older articles this morning that relates to a guy […]

Phil Gordon Actually Endorses a Democrat

It’s true!
Bob Lord today announced that Phoenix mayor and Democrat of convienience Phil Gordon has endorsed him.
I’m flabergasted.

Yeah, I Remember That Cartoon. I Still Don’t Get Why the Orangutan Talked Like Edward G. Robinson, Though…

I’m hearing various theories about John McCain’s coattails here in Arizona. I’m not buying that he’ll have much of them. Even Barry Goldwater’s candidacy didn’t produce much in the way of coattails here (even though it did in the South). His friend Richard Kleindienst lost to Democrat Sam Goddard for Governor at the same time […]

Yes, But Did He Head Butt Obama?

Okay, we’ve all heard the news that Bill Richardson has endorsed Barack Obama. I suppose that stories of Obama losing massive support among the superdelegates are a bit overplayed.
A bit of Kremlinology: I think if Richardson shaves his newly minted beard close to convention time, it mean’s he’s the veep.

Department of Corrections: Better Late Than Never

I encountered Georgia Brousseau this morning and she wanted to correct a mistake I made nearly two years ago(!). I don’t see her much; what can I say?
Anyhow, in a post about a lawsuit to take Russ Jones off of the ballot, I mentioned a case called Brousseau v Fitzgerald that was cited by one […]

Oh, That’s So 2005

So, a correspondent wrote to me to tell me that Mary Peters is preparing a run for Governor.
Wait, didn’t I write that three years ago?
Yeah, you may remember that Peters was one in a series of candidates that were going to send Janet Napolitano back to a private law practice. Like Peters, none of these […]

Strange Visitor From Another Planet…

The keen among you have no doubt noticed that I have added a new blog to the blogroll, Mr. Super. This blog is anonymously written by a so far uncommitted super delegate. I am sworn to secrecy about who it is, but given that he has a “Mr.” in front of his name, y’all have […]

Sauce for the Goose Department

Last week, the RNC sent out a typically handwringing press release demanding that Democrats who took contributions from Eliot Spitzer return them. I’m not sure about the logic of that one, since the money he made wasn’t illegal, he just spent it illegally. Heck, any money he contributed to Senator so-and-so’s campaign was less money […]

You Know, I Noticed We Never Elected Any Chapman Stick Players Either

From Ken Layne of Wonkette:
Do you know how many presidents were elected after criticizing Sinbad? Zero, that’s how many.

This Guy Will Do Alright

Incomming New York Governor David Paterson when asked if he had ever patronized a prostitute:
Only the lobbyists.

New Superintendent for TUSD

Liz Celania-Fagen, a regional superintendent for the Des Moines Independent School District, has been chosen to be the next superintendent for TUSD.
I only note this because I had a couple of people who consider themselves so “in the know” insist to me over the last couple of weeks that the fix was in for Rick […]

Crisis? What Crisis?

As I fully expected, the legislature has gone ahead and passed an ill-concieved extension of a property tax break. This is happening while the same legislature has to figure out how to fix a $1.2 Billion hole in the current state budget.
What is particularly funny is the contorted logic employed by supporters of this plan. […]

An Outlaw Hunting Outlaws…

I caught this article from Bloomberg this morning, and I picked up two interesting facts.
Barack Obama’s Secret Service codename is “Renegade” and Hillary Clinton’s is “Evergreen.”
Obama is of course named for the mid-90’s television program Renegade, staring Lorenzo Lamas.
