Yes, But It Is a Non-Partisan Attack Ad…
I recieved an e-mail from someone asking me about the group Defense of Democracies that is running ads telling us Baja Arizonenses to call Gabrielle Giffords and give her a what for because of the House’s lack of action on the Terrorist Surveillance legislation. Heck, I called her to tell her to keep up the good work.
The group running the ad is affiliated with an organization called the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies. Their website is very careful to say that the ads are not run by the foundation, but rather this other group that is only affiliated with them. Got it?
The foundation is proud of its ostensible non-partisan nature, its website boasting of people like Donna Brazille, Jim Marshall, Eliot Engel and Chuck Schumer as advisors and board members.
These ads, though, have only run against Democrats and only those in swing districts, such as our own Giffords as well as Carol Shea-Porter, Ron Klein, Chris Murphy and Tim Walz. So, not only did they not run the ads against Republicans who were against the bill, but their “non-partisan” choices seem to match those of the NRCC.
The good news is that as of a couple of hours ago, the Democrats I named above have all cut their ties to the group. This still leaves Democrats-of-Convienience Zell Miller, Joe Lieberman and Richard Lamm in the group.

They did one against Harry Mitchell too, I saw it on TV when swearing about Family Guy being pre-empted for NASCAR racing.

There are so many things to be outraged about, I’m not quite sure where to begin. Family Guy preempted for “Turn Left, Drive Fast”?! Donna Brazile and Zell Miller are Democrats? Well I guess Zell didn’t get the memo that the segregationists left the party. And Donna Brazile? Nobody in either party has done more to elect Republicans than Donna Brazile.
