Oh, We Thought It Was Richie Cunningham
Gosh, John McCain was so darned apologetic, wasn’t he? What the heck were his people thinking inviting this guy in the first place? It isn’t as though he hasn’t said this stuff before.
So, is this going to be the pattern for Mr. Straight Talk? Let his surrogates spew hate speech for the knuckle-dragging-mouth-breather crowd and pretend he had nothing to do with it to assure moderate voters? If he had nothing to do with this, what does that say about the control he has over his own campaign?
There was a bit of irony here with this guy Willie Cunningham is his trying to tie Barack Obama to the Daley machine. The guy obviously knows nothing about Chicago politics: Obama moved to Chicago because he was inspired by Harold Washington, who was famously elected against the Daley machine. Obama won his senate primary over a hand picked Daley-sponsored candidate. But hey, far be it from me to ask that a right-wing talker check his facts.

Why should Obama not be proud of his middle name? The press freely uses Hillary’s middle name and no one complains? Do you know if he was given this name at birth or did he change it as it has been fashionable to do in the past?

Walt-
You know full well that it is about context. If John McCain’s middle name had been “Chauncey” or “Adolf,” you’d be the first guy to jump on my ass if I insisted on using it.

It’s not her middle name, it’s her pre-married name. I think we should all just start saying John Sidney McCain.

John “Sid Vicious” McCain?

Your wrong on this one Tedski,
My beef is with the incredibly stupid people who feel a middle name has anything to do with character or ability, and the incredibly stupid press who promote this idea.

The Cincy GOP locals — who invited Cunningham — probably thought they were doing McCain a favor by throwing a conservative fire-breather his way. Oops. Somebody forgot to tell them McCain doesn’t breathe fire.
So now who are they gonna get to open for him — Joe Lieberman?

Joe Lieberman’s middle name, by the way: Isadore.

See the earlier post about the “non-partisan” attack ad. These folks are much more vicious when they are down in the polls. Expect MUCH more and for it to be MUCH more ugly as the general election gets closer.
McCain, to his credit, criticized what Cunningham said. Last night, I saw Bay Buchanan rip into him on O’Reilly’s show. They also had a tape of Limbaugh doing the same.
Wouldn’t it be cool if McCain and Obama collaborated in this election to truly marginalize and rebuke the Limbaughs and Farrakhans of the world?

But did McCain reject AND denounce Cunningham?

Ironically, the name “Isadore” means “gift from God”.
