…With Special Guest Nick Luca
My brother’s guest in the gallery for the opening day of the legislature tommorrow will be Nick Luca. Luca is a local musician who recently came back from touring to find that he had undiagnosed diabetes, and all the problems attendant with that. He was hospitalized, and seems to be doing okay now. But, because of his occupation, he had a hard time paying for his medical care. Basically, he ran into the same sorts of trouble that many free lancers and small buisiness people run into when trying to pay for health care. The advantage he had was that he had a supportive community of artists and musicians and could, a la Andy Hardy, put on a show to pay the bills. Most of us don’t have that.
Tom is bringing Luca in to illustrate some of the problems with our healthcare system. Hopefully the folks at the capitol will think about stories like his before they try to eviscerate Health Care Group again.
NB - If we combine Nick Luca with Tony Cani, we’d have a pretty good striker.
