Credit Where Credit is Due
Last week, I ended up stuck at a stoplight where 6th Avenue meets I - 10 because of a three car accident that happened right in front of me (it didn’t look like anyone was hurt, and South Tucson Fire just happened to be driving by at that moment.) I had no way of getting out as STFD parked their truck right in front of me.
This gave me time to catch the begining of the debate that NPR broadcast between the Democratic presidential candidates. They actually seemed to do it right. The debate only covered three issues: Iran, trade and immigration. The debate wasn’t free-flowing by any means, but the extended time for the topics allowed some back and forth and forced the candidates to go beyond the “you have sixty seconds” sound-bitting of many debates.
Another kudo to NPR: for the last few Sunday afternoons, our local affiliate has been broadcasting hour long conversations with individual candidates on a single issue: health care. I caught the conversation with Joe Biden this past Sunday. Conversations with other candidates are available on NPR’s site.
