Grand Jury Documents
Over at Blog for Arizona, Michael Bryan has posted the publicly released grand jury documents in the Maricopa County Attorney’s New Times fiasco. The idea here is to allow other bloggers (ie - me) and blog readers (ie - you) the chance to look through the documents and find interesting tidbits. This is called “Networked Journalism,” we as a group can look through it and probably find more stuff than an individual such as me or Mike can on our own time.
The most famous example of “Networked Journalism” in action was earlier this year when Talking Points Memo did this with the reams of documents released in the wake of the US Attorney firings. TPM’s admirable but small research staff couldn’t go through them alone, but with the cooperation of readers was able to put the dots together.
The release is still limited. Most of what is there are motions, which are still interesting. Bryan also included the transcript of Judge Anna Baca scolding Dennis Willenchick for attempting to use his political influence to get an ex parte meeting.
