Clark Endorses Clinton

Wesley ClarkWhen I was working for General Wesley Clark’s presidential campaign in 2004, we set up a table at the 4th Avenue Street fair. This couple came by in matching anti-Hillary Clinton t-shirts. They told me that Clinton had a secret plan: she already had it arranged so that Clark would win the primaries, then he would drop out so that she could get the nomination at the convention. They told us to watch, it was going to happen. They knew.

After he dropped out, I wondered if I was ever going to meet those two again so I could ask them what went wrong.

I am not suprised about Clark’s endorsement of Clinton, especially when it became obvious earlier this year that he wasn’t the least bit interested in running again. Clark was close to President Clinton (although, despite what people assume, Clinton and Clark did not know each other in Arkansas), and I couldn’t see him running against his wife. No matter who the nominee is, Clark will no doubt be an important part of the next Democratic president’s cabinet.

I’m sure that those two are sitting in their living room saying, “See…told you…it was her plan…”

NB - I told the story about the street fair before, but not all of you were paying attention.
