What A Maroon
Robert Murray would make an excellent Republican candidate.
Why?
Well, in yesterday’s briefing regarding the tragic events at the mine he owns in Utah, he denied the mounting scientific evidence that the mine collapse was not caused by an earthquake. Then, he took the opporitunity to deflect any criticism by attacking labor unions, environmentalists, foreigners and the press. He slipped up and forgot to blame the gays or Hillary Clinton (wait, he bashed Clinton before).
Obviously, he is using this disaster to boost his profile for a suprise entry into the Republican presidential race.
NB - His condemnation of labor is particularly galling, since among the first groups to send rescue teams was the United Mine Workers, and the families of the trapped workers have praised them for their support.

What is more galling than anything about his interpretation of these events is that it is well known that the Bush Administration has been in the back pocket of the mining industry. Not a huge deal except that they allowed mine safety inspections and safety requirements to almost completely erode.
Collapses happen in this dangerous industry, but placing blame anywhere but on the lack of safety inspection and worker safety regulations is a total joke.

Lumping all republicans into one derogatory category is not only childish and counter productive, but it also denies recognition and support for those republicans who do the right thing. In fact, there are a number of republicans who deserve our respect more so than a number of whimpy ass dems. Please be more constructive and sophisticated in your rhetoric, lest you give a bad impression of other liberals and progressives.

So, Indy, name a Republican who deserves our respect. Please be more constructive and sophisticated in your rhetoric, lest you come off like a typical know-nothing Republican.

Is that all you can muster for a come-back? My five year old can do better than that. Please.

Indy-
I’m poking fun at Republican rhetoric here. If anything, I was criticizing the guy for using this incident to make political attacks. I didn’t realize that isn’t allowed, I’m sorry.
By the way, if you are going to call me childish, don’t follow it moments later by calling people you disagree with “whimpy ass.” It doesn’t do much to bolster your point.

Dems who whither, dither, and whimper and bow to Bush republicans are in fact whimpy asses. The difference is, Tedski, is that I don’t lump all dems as such. Liberals and progressives, who have been flinching with anger over many elected dems not fighting for our constitutional rights and ending the invasion in Iraq, share my rage over their whimpy asses. And, to set the record straight, I am not, nor will I ever be, a registered Republican.
Yes, your style of ‘poking fun’ is allowed. But, is it all that funny when the content of your ‘humor’ is just the same technique of your opposition? Repubs lumping dems, Dems lumping Repubs. And some people wonder why the numbers of registered Independents in AZ are increasing.
All I’m asking, is that Dems who fancy themselves ‘political junkies’ take a long fresh breath outside the box and a take a long look in the mirror. Let’s fix our own house before trashing theirs.

Indy-
Yeah, you are right, you are obviously morally superior to me and have made me realize that my life is a lie. It’s too bad my oven is electric.

Wow, I didn’t know you were such a bitter man. Sorry. And, why again, do some people value your opinions with such trite comments as yours above?

Indy-
Go back and read some of my earlier posts, and you’ll find criticism of some Democrats. What you won’t find here is an attempt to rip people down who are with us eighty or ninety percent of the time just to build some progressive cred. I’ve been involved in politics and local issues long enough to know that everyone will dissapoint you once in a while.
What I find tiresome is the assertion that I or anyone else needs to develop “a backbone,” when the people saying that seem to think that that is synonymous with agreeing with them every time on every issue. If I get a bit snippy about it, it’s because I get tired of the high handed tone that such complaints are delivered with.
