Everyone Gets Those Squarish States Confused
So, my mom is watching C-SPAN the other day (yes, she’s one of THOSE), and she sees one of these endless motions to recommit or some such thing. Speaker Nancy Pelosi was elsewhere, so the chamber was presided over by Tammy Baldwin.
“The gentleman from New Mexico, you have two minutes…the gentleman from New Mexico…the gentleman from New Mexico?”
Actually, she meant our own Raúl Grijalva, who is from Tucson, which hasn’t been part of New Mexico since 1863.
Grijalva took the lack of recognition with his typical humor. One has to wonder though, exactly which member of the New Mexico delegation did she get him confused with?

Yeah, and the Grand Canyon is in Nevada…or….wait…is it Utah?
Yes, Arizona was part of New Mexico originally….perhaps she just hadn’t gotten the memo…. then a few years later she got busy trying to get us out of the Spanish American War…wanted a timetable for troop withdrawal from Cuba…that “Rough Rider” surge of Roosevelt’s will never work….next thing you know, she’s forgotten and Congressman Grijalva is dealt to another team.

Just how is it that that congressional delegation exists in a majority-minority state? Unbelievable.

Maybe Congressman Grijalva and Congressmen Reyes both have decided to take NM up on it offer to succeed from AZ and TX. You all know you want to be apart of us again! That is why you elected a New Mexican Governor!

I wonder, is Steve Pearce any relation to Russell Pearce? His politics clearly are related, maybe Steve Pearce is Russell’s long lost, smarter cousin.
