The Battlin’ 26th
So, the Democrats have a candidate in mind to run for the other District 26 House seat that will in all likelyhood be vacated by Pete Hershberger when he makes a bid to move up to the State Senate.
His name is Don Jorgensen.
Okay, I didn’t make a mistake there. See, actually you did. You thought that I got confused and named one of the Republicans that ran last time. I got you there, because that guy was named David Jorgenson. Totally different head.
(Sorry, I reverted to 1983 and Square Pegs.)
To make matters worse, el otro Jorgenson (or Jorgensen?) is likely going to run again. Have fun with the signs guys!
Being that I am a font of information, the Democratic Jorgensen, or “Mr. E,” is a PhD and a small buisiness owner.
Yeah Don, having the same name as another legislative candidate is hard, but try looking like another legislative candidate.
On the other side, unsuccessful 2006 candidate Al Melvin has recruited fellow conservative Marilyn Zurell to for the House next go around.

I spoke with David Jorgenson a while back and he has no intention of running.
Marilyn Zerull is going to run.
Al Melvin has filed for Senate and AZ 8th reported that Pete has filed as well.

Two democrats running in a republican district. Guess you can kiss that single shot campaign you ran last time goodbye.

Is he by any chance related to the Jorgensen’s that own the feed store in Duncan?

Billy, and just look at what a mess Melvin made for you last time. He’s going to do it again when he faces Hershberger, who I think is fantastic. I wonder if this is going to be a repeat of the Hellon mess. Knock out a moderate and put up an unelectable.

You could be right about Melvin for Senate. Personally, I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think Hershberger is going to do a lot better than Hellon. I think he’s going to work harder (I don’t think in her gut she wanted to win). I think he’s a lot tougher than people realize and I think his name I.D. is great. If he should lose I would not simply say Melvin can’t beat the potted plant who is serving for your side in the Senate now. She has done absolutely nothing (she admitted as much in print) since she got elected.
Regardless about the Senate, that doesn’t change the fact that you have two democrats running in 26 for the House. Saradnik is going to lose for the same reasons you claim Melvin will lose. She’s too extreme for that district. She’s a liberal with a liberal voting record.

Tedski,
You left out the part about Al Melvin already having raised all of his clean election seed money. This time it only took him 3 weeks instead of approximately 3 months last time. But then you are probably not that close to his campaign.

This is great Phx…Melvin mucks it all up for everyone over there. Billy, you may be right about the issue of two Democrats on the ballot, however, you are forgetting that few hold your party in high regard right now…if this continues, I would want as many Democrats running for every seat in this state…as possible. They will get swept in with the tide.

“Being that I am a font of information, the Democratic Jorgensen, or “Mr. E,” is a PhD and a small buisiness owner.”
FYI, Don Jorgensen’s “Ph.D.” is from Columbia Pacific University, named to take advantage of the reputation of Columbia University. Columbia Pacific no longer exists because the California Attorney General pursued its closure, and the California judiciary ordered it to cease operations, a ruling upheld by the California Supreme Court. Findings against Columbia Pacific included granting Ph.D.s inappropriately. Many states do not acknowledge its degrees, e.g., the state of Texas considers Columbia Pacific’s degrees “fraudulent or substandard.”

It looks like Trent Humphries will be in the race for Leg as well. AZ Ace of AZ 8th has spilled the beans.

Kral,
Don’t hold the GOP in high regard? You mean in comparison to the high esteem the public holds the Democrat lead Congress? The lowest esteem ever recorded in the history of polling for a Congress–that kind of esteem? People just hate politicians in general, that’s all. I think we will win back some of those seats and 26, regardless whether the guy who got his degree in cereal box runs or not, is one of the ones we’ll win back.

All I have to say is Cotton Hill as Al Melvin is freaking hilarious.

Honestly, Cotton Hill is the only thing I got out of this post…LOL.

I’d have to agree with “The Guard” and “Teej” that Tedski had a stroke of genius with using Cotton Hill. Al’s temperment is about the same too.

[...] and the loss of focus that comes from just one Democrat running for the house. According the Tedski at RRR the other candidate will be Don Jorgensen. (We are not sure if we should call him Dr. Jorgensen [...]

Ask David Jorgenson what happened when he underestimated Lena Saradnik. He was blatantly patronizing and/or condescending towards her at every forum they mutually attended in 2006, but she had the last laugh because she outworked him and made sure that LD26 voters knew that he was someone capable of representing only a narrow segment of the electorate. The knee-jerk, platitude-laden campaigns he and Melvin ran were not only destined to lose; they also represented the elitist, exclusive tilt of the national GOP.
I don’t know the Republicans running for the House this year, although Humphries strikes me as a thoughtful and intellectual sort from what I have read on his blog. Hershberger is a class act and a counter to the extremists running his party. Whoever the GOP nominates to run for the House in LD26 would do well to emulate him, not the losing duo from 2006. They should also know that they will need to bust their humps if they hope to outwork Saradnik. Given that Don Jorgensen was very much involved in her campaign (and Pesquiera’s) in 2006, I am sure he will adopt the same energetic, issues-oriented approach to campaigning those two exceptional ladies showed.
LD26 voters (and I am one!) disdain ideologues and prefer pragmatists.
