What Your State House Was Up To Today
Well, the house had a really short session yesterday. An hour and a half by some counts. The only memorable bill discussed and passed was a so-called “gun safety” measure so ridiculous that it should have included the words “veto bait” in the title. Then, they were sent home. Given that some of the legislators had to drive for hours to get there after a long weekend, some called it a waste of time.
Today: no official session, but Republican house leaders are trying to figure out their next more on the budget.
Tommorrow: reportedly three bills are up for discussion. Then back home for another weekend.
This is the sort of thing that goes on toward the end of session when folks realize that the budget won’t actually pass both houses. Or, it could be just because the Speaker just wants to give folks time off. You know, decompress and stuff.

You know, there has always been one– and only one– issue on which I’ve disagreed with most Democrats.
And that is second amendment issues.
But you are right, this bill is so stupid (not to mention such an imposition on private business owners– wonder if it covers banks?)

By the way Ted, did you notice in the Republic article on this gun bill, it again named you as a member of the legislature?

The print edition did, anyway. They fixed it online.
