Who’s In, Who’s Out?
I haven’t given an update for a while on who is actually running for council this year. You could, of course, check this yourself.
There is only a few weeks left to submit petition signatures. Two Democrats, Ward 2 candidate Rodney Glassman and Ward 4 incumbent Shirley Scott have submitted their signatures so will be listed on the ballot. Their opponents have not done so yet, but most candidates wait until near the deadline so they can submit the most signatures possible. Glassman submitted the maximum number of signatures, 767. Scott submitted 516, well over the minimum but just shy of the maximum for her ward.
An independent candidate in Ward 2, Darol Cridlebaugh, is exed out on the list of people who have taken nomination petitions, but is listed as a possible general election candidate. According to the Clerk’s office, he is a candidate for the general election but was struck from the first list for technical reasons.
By the way, Luis Gonzales is still listed as someone who took a packet, albeit one that hasn’t filed a statement of organization. As interesting as it would be to see him run, I don’t see him going for it. It’s been years since he won a race, making him the Kenny Wallace of Southern Arizona politics.
Despite their having told people that they are out, both Daniel Patterson and Scott Egan are still isted as folks who have taken packets. Usually, you have to notify the Clerk’s office before they strike you from the list.
NB - Tony Cani gave me grief for my interest in soccer, that somehow it rendered me out of touch with the common people. Like other people in politics trying to adopt a populist pose, I decided to throw in a NASCAR reference.

Gee, and I thought you were going after the soccer-mom support with all of your ‘football’ references.
But if anyone could be compared to Kenny Wallace, isn’t it you? I mean, there is the whole riding the coattails of a more-famous/successful brother bit

Stick to the divorced Milf’s. The ones that have husbands are too dangerous.
Oh, and they’re all expensive.
How is Bee dodging the bullets between the Randy’s (Pullen/Graf) and Kyl/McCain, with Sproule packing some heat along the way?
After all, Bee is president of the Senate.

I’m not running for Mayor this year.
Very likely will run for AZ State House (LD 29) in 2008. Check DanielPatterson.net
I’ve heard that the Green Dave C. will run for Mayor this year.
