Wow, I Guess He Didn’t Know His Own Strength
From Republican mahout Randy Pullen’s latest communiqué:
Yesterday, I expressed disappointment on behalf of the Arizona Republican Party at the Senate legislation addressing Comprehensive Immigration reform. Minutes ago, the U.S. Senate delayed further action until at least next month.
Dang! You the man!
Okay, I’m being a bit unfair, the e-mail is really about how Pullen has started a grassroots movement against the bill. Still hubris, but not quite as much.
Pullen goes on to say:
According to the latest press reports, there are now just 20 US Senators committed to supporting the immigration bill and there are nearing 40 US Senators “already opposed or having serious concerns” to the bill. If that 40 gets to 50, then the calls of our Republican Party faithful will have worked and you can take a bow because the people in Washington will have listened to our collective voices.
I don’t know where numbers are coming from, but some of the opposition comes from a decidedly different direction. Robert Menendez abandoned his support for the bill; he says because of its “anti-family bias, a temporary worker program that creates a permanent underclass and exorbitant fines.” I doubt that he is responding to calls made from Pullen supporters. But, I gotta give the guy props for knowing how to take credit.
Pullen includes a list of all one hundred Senators and is encouraging his legions to call them. I guess they have as much time on their hands as he does.

Yeah, take that hard line on immigration. It sure worked well for J.D. Hayworth and Randy Graf last year, didn’t it?
