Logo Fun
Okay…yes, y’all were right, the logo was for the Tampa Bay Mutiny, which played in MLS from 1996-2001. The Mutiny was demobilized and sent to Pitcarin before the beginning of the 2002 season.
The Mutiny’s best season was in 1996, where they piled on a 20 - 12 record and Roy Lassiter scored a league high 27 goals that season, a record that still stands. (It’s the MLS record, but is not the most in American soccer. The NASL record is 34 goals Giorgio Chinaglia scored for the New York Cosmos in 1978 and the ASL recorded 67 goals Archie Stark scored for Bethlehem Steel in 1925)
And, like the folks who I was writing about, the Mutiny had a proclivity for bad deals. In 1998, they traded the still hot Lassiter for the over the hill Roy Wegerle. This is still regarded as the stupidest deal in league history.
