Face Dances
I just now got to reading the pile of issues of the Yellow Sheet that were forwarded to me last week. I can’t afford a subscription to the darned thing, and various folks at the capitol send it to me as an act of charity. As an admirer of Dorothy Day, I know the importance of works of charity.
Anyhow, Jack Harper and the various handwringing around his actions on the committee investigating the State Veteran’s home seem to be a favorite topic of the authors of the Yellow Sheet. One worried Republican said that Harper may become the “face of the Republican party.” Someone else pointed out not to worry, that Russell Pearce already is.
Point taken, Jack Harper will not be seen as the face of the Republican party, but he definitely has manuvered himself into being the face of this investigation. This has been to the detriment of actual fact finding. Frankly, the Republicans don’t have anyone to blame but themselves. They granted him this authority and the room to use it in this way. It’s not like this behavior surprises anyone who has been paying attention.
