I think perhaps you are over-interpreting how people perceive this stuff from the legislature. besides, i doubt Pearce is smart enough to plan it that way. And, yeah, I know him.

This is an immediate dividend of the pickup of six seats in the election.

It used to be that Republicans could take their legislative duties lightly, in that if a few didn’t show up for a vote there would still be plenty of votes to pass it.

But that isn’t true anymore.

One bill, HB2467 (licensing eligibility; lawful presence; verification) will be reconsidered today. Pearce voted no and made the motion to re-vote it yesterday.

Perhaps more curious is why Rep. Barbara McGuire changed her vote from a ‘yes’ to a ‘no’ at the last minute on the metricula consular bill, leaving Pearce with only 30 votes.
